The 101

Winding our way down the rugged Californian coast reminded me a little of New Zealand’s scenic coastal roads. We camped on the beach and drove through the Avenue of Giants. Massive Redwoods – very cool.

Stayed in San Francisco for a couple of days, Kels got her toenails did and spent the next couple of weeks extolling the virtues of inexpensive pedicures – cheers Christy. Spent a night in San Diego before crossing the Tijuana border.

Portland – Cousin Luv

Cannon Beach Oregon

Bull whipping bull kelp — Cannon Beach Oregon

We skipped Seattle and drove to Portland Oregon to stay with Kelsey’s crazy half cousin – Cousin Luv. Kels and her cousin downed two bottles of white wine and laughed into the night. Valentines Day the next morning and Kels is in bed with “a bit of a headache”. Met some great people in Portland and were really impressed with the quality of service and the super friendly people – some cool little micro breweries also.

Powels Books in Portland is the worlds largest independently owned bookstore and takes up an entire city block, we went for a look and spent the day, Kels was in heaven.
